A number of stakeholders have spoken in the National Resilience Seminar for Indonesia’s Digital Transformation 2045 which highlighted the awareness of the rise and severity of cybersecurity challenges in today’s world. Among the notable guests were Budi Arie Setiadi, Minister of Communication and Informatics, Andi Widjajanto, Governor of the Indonesian National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas RI), Hinsa Siburian, Chief of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Rudi Rusdiah, Chairman of the Indonesian Big Data Association (ABDI), Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, Director-General of Informatics Application, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and Andi Kristianto, CEO of PT Telkomsel Digital Ecosystem.

Andi Widjajanto, Governor of Lemhannas RI, said that Indonesia faces 1.2 billion cyber-attacks annually in the post-pandemic period, a triple from 400 million cyberattacks per year before the pandemic. A common type of cyber-attack nowadays involves malware, which has been sent disguised as wedding invitation apps.

“There are 2,200 attacks happening each minute in the cyber space, some of which target personal, corporate, and commercial data. This situation needs to be promptly addressed with comprehensive architecture, ranging from regulations to technology supports. Huawei can make a significant contribution in aiding the government to prepare the utmost data security system,” said Andi Widjajanto.

Based on the Lemhannas RI’s record, the data stored in the digital space worldwide has reached 70 zettabytes between 2020-2022. It is expected that this volume will experience a substantial surge due to the swift progress of digital transformation in each country.
