Chrome is safer browsing

Google has announced that it is releasing a new set of features for its Chrome browser that gives users more control over their data while surfing the web and protects against online threats.

“With the latest version of Chrome, you can take advantage of our upgraded security checks, opt out of unwanted website notifications more easily, and grant certain site permissions just once,” the tech giant said. said.

Improvements to Security check allow it to run automatically in the background, notifying users of actions they’ve taken, such as revoking permissions for websites they no longer visit, and flagging potentially unwanted notifications.

It is also designed to notify users of security issues that need to be addressed, while automatically revoking notification permissions from suspicious sites identified Google Safe Browsing.

“On the desktop, Safety Check will continue to notify you if you have any Chrome extensions installed that may pose a risk to your security, then take you to the extensions page and show you a summary panel with quick controls to remove them.” — Andrew Kamau, Product Manager for Chrome said,

Security Check, in addition to offering users the option to enable Google Safe Browsing protection, is also capable of warning if a username or password stored in Google Password Manager has been involved in a data breach, the search and advertising company added.

Chrome is safer browsing

Some of the other key updates include the ability to unsubscribe from unwanted website notifications directly in the inbox on Pixel and Android devices, and providing one-time permissions for Chrome on Android and desktop.

“With this feature, you can grant individual permissions — like access to your camera or microphone — to a site just once, helping you better manage your online privacy,” Kamau said. “Once you leave the site, Chrome revokes your permissions. The site will not be able to use these permissions until you explicitly grant them again.”
