Former Central Intelligence Agency Analyst (CIA) was convict Up to just over three years of imprisonment for the illegal detention and transfer of secret secret protection of information (NDI) to people who did not have the right to take them and for trying to cover the harmful activity.
Asif William Rahman, 34, from Vienna, was sentenced to 37 months today on charges of theft and dissemination of secret information. He has been a CIA officer since 2016 and had a secret security registration to access sensitive information about the department (IPS) until he was stopped from his job after he was arrested last November in Cambodia.
Earlier in this January, Rahman pleaded guilty to two articles on intentional maintenance and transfer of secret information related to national protection.
As before report On October 17, 2024, Rahman retained several secret and secret documents without permission, drove them to his place of residence and intentionally sent them to several persons who did not have the necessary permission to receive them.
“The defendant took a picture of the documents and transferred these images to a computer program that allowed him to edit images to try to hide their source and delete his activity,” according to the court documents. “The defendant also took measures to hide his identity, illegally exchanging classified information with others.”
Some of these documents were linked to Israel’s plans to attack Iran at this time. In the end, they began to spread on the Internet after they were posted on a telegram on the account called “Middle East”.
To cover these actions, Rahman was engaged in the fact that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) called a “deletion company” on its computer, wiping approximately 1.5 GB of data from its email and a personal folder in its system. He also removed and edited some records in the magazine to hide his personal opinions on US politics.
“Asif Rahman violated his confidence position by unlawful access, removal and transfer of major secret documents vital for the national security of the United States and its allies,” said Eric S. Sibert, US Prosecutor in Virginia.
“The term with which Mr. Rahman was identified, arrested, accused and prosecuted, is a testament to the commitment and professionalism of investigators and prosecutors who have led him to justice. This case should serve as a strict warning to those who decided to place their own goals over the loyalty of our nation.”
