TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Russian cyber security company Kaspersky commented on the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 47 of 2023 concerning the National Cyber Security Strategy and Cyber Crisis Management signed by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi on July 20, 2023.
“The issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 47 of 2023 marks a significant measure in strengthening Indonesia’s digital landscape,” Kaspersky Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Asia-Pacific Regions, Genie Sugene Gan, said in a written statement quoted on Friday, August 4, 2023.
According to Gan, with 35 comprehensive articles, the regulation reflects the government’s persistence in protecting the country’s cryptographic ecosystem and producing a clear and measurable action plan to secure cyberspace.
She explained that the crypto asset market continues to grow, so taking advantage of its growth is crucial to push the development of the nation’s digital economy.
“Crypto transactions in Indonesia jumped 9.3 percent in June 2023, reaching Rp8.97 trillion. However, these spikes also reveal inherent risks that demand careful handling,” Gan added.
In 2022, Kaspersky managed to thwart 147,649 crypto phishing attempts in Southeast Asia, including 24,642 attempts targeting Indonesian users.
