Indonesia is set to implement a new visa policy that will allow
tourists from 20 countries to enter the country without a visa. Tourism
Minister Sandiaga Uno announced that the policy is currently being
developed and is expected to be finalised before October 2024.
The list of countries slated for visa-free entry includes major
tourism markets such as India, Australia, China, Japan, the United
States, South Korea, France, Germany, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and the
United Arab Emirates, among others.
This move aims to boost international tourism in Indonesia,
potentially making it easier for tourists from these countries to enter
Indonesia. The announcement comes after a similar proposal was under
consideration by the Indonesian government last year, which was
initially expected to be implemented by January 2024.
The new visa policy, once finalised, could have substantial
implications for travel agents and their clients planning trips to
Indonesia. It represents a continuation of efforts by various countries
to simplify travel processes and encourage tourism in the post-pandemic
era.
