OCBC’s Indonesia business has partnered with Cloudera to achieve their vision of becoming a digital-first bank in Indonesia, offering “better” banking experiences for their customers.

According to Cloudera, OCBC Indonesia is looking to leverage their generative AI (GenAI) solutions and the data management, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of the Cloudera hybrid platform.

The rationale behind the partnership stems from the requirement of a hybrid strategy for data, analytics and AI by the bank’s in-house data science team.

The team needed a strategy that could integrate with the bank’s data lake and allow data scientists and business users to work seamlessly with various integrated applications.

With the integration, the bank will be enabled to deliver transformer-based AI models, real-time intelligent and personalised recommendations to customers.

“OCBC Indonesia believes that adopting technology will add value to the customer experience as a strategic objective,” said the bank’s chief technology officer Komang Yasa.

“Implementing modern data technology and launching GenAI projects is one of the milestones for the bank to stay ahead and become forefront in the industry.”

Yasa also stressed that the bank believes that technology and customer experience are “inseparable” in providing solutions to consumer needs.

Moving forward, Cloudera revealed that OCBC Indonesia plans to make AI and machine learning (ML) available to more of its systems and users.

The bank will rely on them to provide a “strong and flexible” foundation to integrate AI at scale throughout the organisation and drive more customer innovation and regulatory reporting.

“We are thrilled to be working with OCBC Indonesia to help them build an extensible platform that allows them to easily and flexibly build applications and leverage tools and frameworks to drive business transformation,” added Cloudera country manager of Indonesia Sherlie Karnidta.

“Enterprises are eager to leverage their massive loads of data for GenAI to build custom applications and productivity tools for their customers.”
