Resorts World Cruises has made history by becoming the first
international cruise line to establish a homeport in Indonesia. The
cruise company’s ship Resorts World One arrived in Jakarta on 16 June
2024 to begin a seasonal deployment through 1 July 2024, offering four
6-night round-trip cruises from Jakarta to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
“We are deeply excited to charter a new history here in Indonesia and
be part of this milestone event as the first international cruise line
to homeport in Indonesia with the Resorts World One,” said Michael Goh,
President of Resorts World Cruises.
To commemorate the milestone, Resorts World Cruises and Indonesian
authorities held two celebratory events. Upon the ship’s arrival, the
Indonesian tourism authority greeted disembarking tourists with cultural
performances and welcoming souvenirs.
An additional event was then held onboard with over 250 attendees,
officiated by Capt. Hendri Ginting M.M., director of marine safety &
seafarers at the Ministry of Transportation, and Itok Parikesit,
director of special interest tourism at the Ministry of Tourism and
Creative Economy. Other government officials, travel partners, media,
influencers and Resorts World Cruises executives like executive chairman
Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay were also present.
“It is our hope that the deployment of the Resorts World One in
Jakarta will provide positive prospects and increase the number of
international tourists visiting Indonesia,” said Parikesit.
The inaugural Jakarta sailing was in high demand, with nearly 3,500
guests and crew members aboard for the 16 June departure. The Resorts
World One is certified as an OIC/SMIIC Standard Halal-Friendly ship,
providing Muslim travellers access to certified halal cuisine.
Onboard, guests can choose from interior to suite accommodations,
with the luxury all-suite ‘Palace’ enclave offering European butler
service. Amenities include 18 bars and restaurants, a Roman-themed pool
with water slides, movies at sea, and live entertainment.
The 6-night cruises out of Jakarta visit Singapore, allowing guests
to explore the city’s iconic attractions, and Kuala Lumpur/Port Klang,
providing opportunities to experience Malaysian culture and sites like
the Batu Caves.
