TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno invited travel agencies in China to increase their tour packages to Indonesia. He showed the rich tourism potential in Indonesia, such as a number of super-priority tourism destinations.
“Apart from Bali, there are five super-priority tourism destinations in Indonesia, namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, Likupang, Labuan Bajo, and Mandalika,” he said when meeting with Chinese travel agents at the Andaz Xintiadi Hotel in Shanghai on Thursday, June 27, as quoted from an official statement.
Sandiaga also presented Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy achievements to the international public. One of them is Indonesia’s performance in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Tourism Development Performance Index, which rose 10 positions from 32nd to 22nd in the world.
In addition to the rich tourism potential, Sandiaga said, there are many flights from China to Indonesia. There are at least 14 cities in China that have direct flights to several cities in Indonesia.
“China is a very potential market for Indonesia’s tourism and creative industries. Therefore, we are targeting 1 million to 1.5 million tourist visits from China to Indonesia in 2024,” the minister said.
Sandiaga is optimistic that this goal can be achieved. He noted that there is good cooperation between the two countries. “I am confident that the potential that exists in Indonesia will be able to attract Chinese tourists to Indonesia.”
