“This reflects the well-maintained strong bonds between the two countries and also Australia’s high regard for Indonesia,” Tjahjanto noted in a press release from his office.
He affirmed that cooperation in defense is essential to enhancing the security and military prowess of both countries.
He explained that Indonesia and Australia could collaborate in the field of defense by conducting personnel exchanges and joint military drills.
Tjahjanto expressed belief that the two countries would be able to easily thwart any kinds of threats, including those posed by terrorist groups, by bolstering their defense capacity.
He emphasized the need to forge cooperation in cybersecurity, deeming it crucial for preventing confidential state data from leaking to irresponsible parties.
During their meeting, the two ministers also discussed the plan for holding the 10th Indonesia-Australia Ministerial Council Meeting on Law and Security.
Tjahjanto also mentioned the 5th Sub-regional Meeting on Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Security scheduled for this year in Indonesia.
He expressed optimism about Indonesia and Australia bringing their bilateral ties to a higher level by taking part in the two planned meetings.
