Health and Information Technology in a Guest Lecture by the Main Director of BPJS Indonesia

BPJS Main Director Prof. Dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M.Sc., Ph.D., AAK., delivering a lecture accompanied by moderator Prof. Drs. Ec. Ir. Riyanarto Sarno, M.Sc., Ph.D.

The Faculty of Smart Electrical and Informatics Technology (ELECTICS) held a guest lecture in collaboration with the Indonesian Social Security Administration (BPJS) on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Handayani Hall, 2nd Floor, ITS Sukolilo Informatics Engineering Department Building. The guest lecture, titled “Directions of BPJS Health Insurance Policy and Smart Technology Support in Improving Services,” was delivered directly by the Main Director of BPJS, Prof. Dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti M.Sc., Ph.D.

 

The event commenced with a registration session and opening remarks by the MC, followed by the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and the ITS Hymn. Subsequently, the opening session featured various speeches.

 

The first address was given by the Chancellor of ITS, Mr. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc.Eng, PhD. In his speech, he emphasized the vital role of technology in supporting health policies. He also highlighted ITS’s openness to collaboration, considering ITS leading position in technology and the recent establishment of the Faculty of Health and Medicine.

 

The Head of the Informatics Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Eng. Chastine Fatichah, S.Kom., M.Kom., also delivered remarks, welcoming the Main Director of BPJS and his team. He underscored the close relationship between technology and the Informatics Engineering department, as well as the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. He expressed hope that students would seize the opportunity to intern at BPJS and engage in research collaborations through real-world projects, community service, and final assignments.

 

Moving on to the main event, the guest lecture by the Main Director of BPJS, Prof. Dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M.Sc., Ph.D., delved into the extensive digital ecosystem of BPJS Health. As of December 2023, BPJS Health has served approximately 267 million participants, supported by around 243 thousand companies, 32 thousand health facilities, and 950 thousand payment channels, including banks, non-banks, retail, and e-commerce.

 

BPJS Health collaborates with various stakeholders such as Komonkoas, OJK, KPK, POLRI, and others. Leveraging approximately 30 application and payment service providers, BPJS Health utilizes smart technology to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness, strengthen collaboration, and provide better healthcare services to the community.

 

In conclusion, this guest lecture serves not only as an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the direction of BPJS health insurance policy but also as an inspiration for students and participants to continue developing and applying smart technology in various fields. Collaborations like these are key to creating innovative solutions to improve the quality of life for society at large.
